Imagine this.. you are on your daily commute back home after a stressful day at work. you are alone, watching the hustle and bustle of the tired world, when a sudden rush of breeze gently caresses your face and you hear a romantic number by Ilayaraja playing at the radio. you are travelling back to your memory lane.. you remember all the good old times with your ex, you breathe heavily, tears rolling up with a momentary pain and joy. That feeling.. that pinch of a feeling was what I felt reading this book.

This is my second book by Twinkle Khanna (TK). The first one is of course the famous Mrs. Funnybones! I liked the narration of this book better than MFB. TK has generously sprinkled her wit and wisdom throughout this book.
Some of my favorite lines were,
“They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I say that a beauty is whoever lets you hold her”
“But the first in every other way. His nose brushed against my ear, that goddamn perfect nose that could be on a Roman coin.
He said fetch
I said woof.”
“A marriage doesn’t end with lawyers and courts. It dies when two people in the aftermath of shocks and jolts put the defibrillator away, realizing that all this while they had been trying to revive a corpse.”
The story..
Revolves around Anshu and her ex husband Jay who happens to meet at a spa called Shanthamaaya in the God’s own country Kerala. Here food is rationed, sex forbidden and emotions centered. We get to see the emotional roller-coaster ride of Anshu’s 28 days stay at Shanthamaaya which gives her not just some good friends but also a realization of her self-worth and peace of mind!

Final thoughts!
This book has everything! From humor, wit, gyaan to serious teary moments. It took me 3 days (couple of hrs per day) to finish this book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I just wish there was a “real” Shanthamaaya where I get to wear my pyjamas 😉
PaF is available at all leading online & offline book stores and retails for ₹325 (I bought this during an Amazon sale for ₹130). Alternatively you can read this book from the Juggernaut app for a better price.
