NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils – Review & Swatches!

“Milk” was the first Jumbo Pencil that I tried around 3 years back and that’s when I fell in love with this awesome range from NYX <3

The formula, the texture and the quality is too good that you can never stop with just one pencil 😀

These pencils are available in almost 36 stunning shades and each and every shade is unique and has an excellent color payoff

These pencils work extremely well as an eye shadow base; The consistency is somewhere in between that of MAC Paint pots and Maybelline color tattoos JThe texture is quite creamy and hence spreads well and blends easily.

Just a word of caution in case you have oily lids! Do not use them like a standard eye shadow, this will crease very badly! But to accentuate a dull shade, this will definitely be your perfect choice J

The packaging is an ordinary white pencil packaging with a transparent plastic lid but the lid is too clumsy that every time we try closing the lid a tiny amount of the product transfers to the lid L

Here is a glimpse of my NYX Jumbo eye pencil collection J

I have listed these based on their shade numbers as that worked easy for me to click and sort the pics <3

601 – Black Bean – A rich dark black shade, often called a close dupe of MAC carbon

602 – Dark Brown – Quite a dark brown shade, looks more like a black shade in the picture but its actually a proper dark brown shade and a popular dupe of MAC dark brown too J

603 – Pots & Pans – This is bright silver shade, works extremely well as a highlighter

604 – Milk – A matte pure white shade, super perfect as a eye shadow base to accentuate dull colors

605 – Strawberry Milk – A frosty light pink shade, again a perfect highlighter when you use a pink based eyeshadows J

607 – Horse Raddish – Again a frosty green shade similar to Strawberry Milk J

609 – French Fries – It’s a beautiful copper brown shade, one of my favorite <3

611 – Yogurt – It’s a pearly nude shade, again a perfect highlighter shade, my favorite again JA close dupe of MAC Beige-ing shadestick J

613 – Lime – It’s a golden green shade (hope you understood what I meant :P), a very unique color apt for festive season <3

615 – Slate – A smokey gun metal grey shade, trust me, it’s a lovely color <3

617 – Iced Mocha – it’s a nice brown bronze shade with a pearl finish – shade is a close dupe of MAC satin taupe J

619 – Rust – A beautiful Brownish Maroon shade, a most popular one from this range and it’s a close dupe of MAC cranberry J

620 – Bronze – A bright bronze shade with an orange undertone

622A – Electric blue – A bright Ocean/azure blue shade

623A – Purple Velvet – A deep purple shade, a beautiful color <3

NYX jumbo pencils are a total addiction to any eye makeup lover! I personally love to add few more shades to my collection and I am eyeing on the following shades at the moment 😛

The only problem that I face with these pencils is that they are hard to sharpen and needs a lot of effort L

If you don’t like to sweat yourself too hard on sharpening these pencils, there are two different methods to depot these in to jars and use them with a brush just like how you use paint pots and color tattoos J

There is a “Blow dryer” method and there is a “Microwave” method as shown below, I have not tried any of these coz I couldnt find a good depot jar until now (lol such a lame reason J) naa just kidding, I just dint find time to try these.. If you guys ever try it, please let me know how it worked for you J

The NYX jumbo eye pencils retails at $ 4.50 for 5g/0.18oz, in India it retails between Rs. 350 to Rs. 380

So have you guys tried NYX jumbo pencils before? If so which one is your favorite shade? Do let me know in the comments section below J

Thanks for Reading J

Take care and Stay Gorgeous <3
